Hello. My name is Timea and I am the founder of Mimosa Hand Made Soy Candles. I started making soy candles after my son's parrot died from our paraffin candle. Little did I know at the time that most candles are paraffin based and have many harmful chemicals in them as well as some have lead wicks. After our parrot, Yoda, died I had done a lot of research about candles and realized how harmful they are not to just birds but to people as well. Have you ever tried to clean a glass container after you finished burning a candle? No luck? Yes, that's what happened to me too. It was black with soot and for the life of me I could not get the container clean. Do you know where some of that soot ends up? Some on your walls and some on your lung and the rest stays on the walls of the container. Having a child with respiratory problems I have always been very careful about what I used in my home but one thing I never really thought about was candles.
